How this calculator works
The 2026 combined IRA contribution limit is $7,500, plus $1,100 at age 50 or older, subject to eligible compensation. Roth eligibility phases out at MAGI $153,000–$168,000 for supported single/head-of-household filers and $242,000–$252,000 jointly. Within the phase-out, the reduced limit rounds upward to the nearest $10, with the IRS $200 minimum where a positive reduced limit applies. Deposits to other IRAs also use the shared annual ceiling. Contribution eligibility does not predict investment returns or future withdrawal qualification.
Formula and rules
Income-adjusted limit = age/compensation limit × (phase-out end − MAGI) / phase-out width, bounded and rounded per the IRA worksheet. Permitted room = min(income-adjusted limit, combined limit − other IRA deposits).

Common questions
Is this the same as the Roth IRA growth calculator?
No. This page estimates permitted current-year deposits, including partial eligibility. The growth page projects a balance from eligible contributions.
Do traditional IRA deposits reduce Roth contribution room?
Yes. Ordinary traditional and Roth IRA contributions share the annual contribution ceiling.
Does a conversion use the same contribution room?
Roth conversions are not ordinary annual contributions. Their tax and eligibility consequences are outside this tool.
