eDPI Calculator
Multiply mouse DPI by in-game sensitivity to describe a settings combination on the same sensitivity scale.
Effective DPI
eDPI is comparable only with equivalent sensitivity scales. CPI is the more precise mouse-resolution term; DPI is retained because it is the familiar settings label. No universal ideal eDPI is prescribed.

How this calculator works
Effective DPI is a product used to describe mouse settings, not a physical display density. Two settings with the same product may produce the same movement response within the same game when the sensitivity multiplier is linear. Keep game, acceleration, zoom and input behaviour consistent before comparing values. The number alone does not tell you distance per full rotation across unrelated game engines.
Formula
eDPI = mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity.
Assumptions & limitations
eDPI is comparable only with equivalent sensitivity scales. CPI is the more precise mouse-resolution term; DPI is retained because it is the familiar settings label. No universal ideal eDPI is prescribed.
Worked example
800 DPI × 1.5 sensitivity = 1,200 eDPI. 400 DPI × 3 sensitivity gives the same product within an equivalent game scale.
Our approach to calculations ↗Common questions
Is 1,200 eDPI the same in every game?
No. A sensitivity value can map to a different rotation rate in another game.
Does this calculate centimetres per 360°?
No. That requires the game’s angular scale per count as well as DPI and sensitivity.
How do I preserve eDPI after changing DPI?
Use DPI Sensitivity Converter to divide your original product by the new mouse DPI.
