US Overtime Pay Calculator
Calculate gross pay for one federal workweek. Include a bonus already allocated to that week to see how it changes the regular rate and overtime premium.
Rule year: 2026 · USD · Sources checked
Total gross workweek pay
One hourly rate and one established workweek; no exemption determination, state daily overtime, multiple-rate employment, tipped credit, piecework or retrospective multiweek bonus allocation. The 1.5 minimum is the federal model; contractual higher multipliers are scenarios. Taxes and qualified overtime deductions are separate.

How this calculator works
For a covered, nonexempt hourly employee, federal overtime normally begins after 40 hours actually worked in a fixed workweek. A nondiscretionary bonus allocated to that week can increase the regular rate. Straight-time wages for every worked hour and the allocated bonus are counted once; the extra overtime premium is added separately. Paid leave is not automatically a worked hour.
Formula and rules
Regular rate = (hourly wage × worked hours + allocated bonus) ÷ worked hours. Extra premium = overtime hours × regular rate × (multiplier − 1). Gross = straight-time wages + bonus + premium.

Common questions
Is overtime always 1.5 times my base wage?
Federal overtime uses the regular rate, which can include nondiscretionary remuneration. A base wage alone may not be the correct rate.
Can I include an annual bonus?
Only enter the amount already properly allocated to this specific workweek. This tool does not allocate a bonus across prior weeks.
Does this calculate the overtime tax deduction?
No. Gross overtime compensation and the qualifying federal deduction are different calculations; use the linked deduction tool for that scope.
