How this calculator works
An annual estimate depends on both hours worked and paid weeks. Enter fewer than 52 weeks if time off is unpaid, or include paid leave in the week count. The monthly result is an annual average rather than a prediction of a particular payslip. Gross figures exclude tax and deductions.
Formula
annual salary = hourly wage × weekly hours × weeks
Assumptions & limitations
Gross income before tax. Includes only entered working weeks.
Worked example
At $25 an hour, 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks, weekly gross pay is $1,000 and annual gross pay is $52,000. The monthly average is $4,333.33. With two unpaid weeks, use 50 weeks: annual pay becomes $50,000.
For hours paid at a different multiplier, calculate that pay separately with the Overtime Calculator rather than counting every hour at your base rate.
Our approach to calculations ↗Common questions
Should I enter 52 paid weeks?
Use 52 when pay covers the full year, including paid leave. Reduce the week count for unpaid time off.
Is monthly pay an exact payslip?
No. It is annual gross income divided by twelve. Weekly and biweekly payroll schedules can vary by calendar month.
Are taxes and benefits included?
No. Results are gross wages for the hours and paid weeks entered.
